The 2026 Action Program of the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), a management center attached to the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, contemplates an investment of 10,185,959 euros to support business innovation, strengthen the competitiveness of the productive fabric, and promote the creation of stable, quality employment on the islands.

This investment, managed by ACIISI within the framework of the R&D&I policies of the Government of the Canary Islands, is aimed at boosting innovation in the private sector and enabling companies to incorporate knowledge, technology, and new capabilities to improve their productivity and advance the transformation of the Canary Islands' economic model.

The actions align with the priority areas defined in the Canary Islands Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3 Ampliada), which directs resources towards sectors and activities with the greatest potential for innovation and growth.

High-tech companies, clusters, and cooperation

Among the main lines of action is support for knowledge-intensive companies and entities, as well as the promotion of initiatives linked to the strategic areas established in RIS3 Ampliada.

The Program also includes measures to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem, by supporting the consolidation of the Canary Islands' cluster network and social innovation initiatives. Added to these actions is the support for the activity of the Canary Islands Technology Institute (ITC) in terms of infrastructure and technological development.

International cooperation also constitutes a line of work within this axis. This area includes the DiploInnova Program, aimed at strengthening cooperation relations in innovation between the Canary Islands and Morocco and generating new collaboration opportunities.

Support for business innovation is one of the major areas of the 2026 Action Program, along with the lines aimed at research and innovation human capital, basic and applied research, and the deployment of the Information Society.

The ACIISI 2026 Action Program is available for public consultation on the Agency's website, where the details of its allocations, programs, and calls for proposals can be consulted.

This information is part of the series of contents with which ACIISI will be breaking down the main lines of the 2026 Action Program, to bring citizens closer to the actions that the Government of the Canary Islands and ACIISI are developing in terms of science, research, innovation, and digital transformation.
