Arrecife premiered this Friday night the Blue Marina Suites, "a small luxury boutique hotel", the second to open in the capital of Lanzarote with these characteristics. Blue Marina Suites, promoted by the entrepreneur of Hindu origin, now deceased, Sham Dayaram Idnani, is located in a building on La Marina Avenue completely renovated, where Sham Dayaram opened a bazaar on the ground floor and later was the germ of the Sam perfumery chain.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, participated last night in the opening ceremony of this high quality and luxury tourist establishment, which will operate in the modality of vacation homes.
The capital mayor stressed in his speech, before the presence of the owner's family, authorities, professionals from the tourism sector, and economic and social agents representative of Lanzarote and Canary society, that "this tourist investment of the Sham family, in the capital of Lanzarote, is the model to follow for the high quality of its equipment, designs and luxury." In addition, the first mayor detailed, "their model is to position themselves in an establishment focused on tourism with high purchasing power, as we appreciate in the design and quality.
Yonathan de León was pleased that it is now, in this 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Arrecife, when Blue Marina Suites Lanzarote opens "in the same building that more than six decades ago housed one of the first hotels in Arrecife and Lanzarote, which operated under the name Hotel Zonzamas." In Arrecife there were at that time the Parador de Turismo, different pensions and hostels, and later would come the tourist residences and the first hotels in the tourist areas of Lanzarote.
The tourist documentation reflects that some hotels also operated as hostels in the current Plazuela, and Calle Real. But it was the primitive hotel Zonzamas, which opened focused on tourism, on the same avenue of Arrecife next to the first park of the city, called José Ramírez Cerdá.
The mayor, on behalf of the City Council, conveyed congratulations to the Sham family for this boutique hotel. Arrecife has a new establishment that will be a reference and commitment to turn the island into a different destination with its own seal.
As he said in his speech, Yonathan de León, recalled that by express wish of the late Sham Dayaram, part of his ashes were scattered in front of the marina, in this area of Arrecife, where he undertook and was lucky as a prominent businessman.
He concluded his words pointing out that "I am sure that Sam, from up there, has joined this opening looking and protecting his children. He was an enterprising businessman who with his smile and greeting received from his bazaar, and later perfumery, many locals and tourists."
After the intervention, Rohan, Puja and Bindu Sham Idnani, gave a hug to the mayor in gratitude for the words and recognition to his father, now deceased.
