ENAIRE, state air navigation manager, has managed more than 220,000 flights (218,725) in April 2026, 4.2% more than in the same month of the record year 2025.
Both international flights (127,595) and overflights - which do not originate or end at a Spanish airport - (50,500) and domestic flights (40,630) increased in April by 4.2% compared to the same month last year.
This increase in air traffic in Spain in April 2026 compared to 2025 is 5.3 percentage points more than the European average variation (which is -1.1%). Compared to 2019, the pre-pandemic reference year, the difference in favor of Spain is 19.4 percentage points (ENAIRE, 19.3% more; Europe, 0.1% less).
By control centers, and returning to compare the air traffic of April this year with that registered in 2025, Sevilla, which covers the airspace of all Andalusia, managed 52,221 flights (+7.7%); Madrid, from where the center and north of the country are covered, 119,356 (+4.8%); Barcelona, for the Mediterranean area, 104,615 (+4.2%); Palma, for the Balearic Islands, 33,293 (+2.8%) and Canarias, 35,597 (+0.2%).
As for the accumulated data for the year, ENAIRE has managed nearly 740,000 flights (739,096) in the first four-month period of 2026, 3.5% more than in the same period of 2025. In the first four months of the year, overflights (179,375) increased by 4.9%; international flights (414,490), by 4.0%; and domestic flights (145,231), by 0.3%.
So far this year, by control centers, Seville managed 182,958 flights (+6.4% more than in the same period of 2025); Madrid, 426,699 (+3.7%); Barcelona, 326,558 (+3.6%); Palma, 77,168 (+1.2%); and Canary Islands, 148,229 (+0.4%).
The accumulated traffic growth in Spain with respect to 2025 is 2.3 percentage points higher than the European average (which is 1.2%) and exceeds the European average by 20.8 points with relation to the same period of 2019 (19.5% in the case of ENAIRE and -1.3% in the case of Europe).
