The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has activated a budget of 500,000 euros in public aid to finance projects of photovoltaic and wind renewable energies, whose registration period will remain open until next September 21.

This call, framed within the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the island corporation, seeks to accelerate the energy transition in Lanzarote and La Graciosa by supporting self-consumption in connected and isolated buildings from the electrical grid, directly reducing polluting gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, underlined the strategic impact of the measure, stating that “this aid program to move towards a more sustainable energy model provides real support to sustainability by granting direct support to local families and businesses that wish to implement these technologies in the archipelago”.

For his part, the Minister of Energy, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, highlighted that “the call represents an excellent opportunity to make the definitive leap to wind and photovoltaic self-consumption. The minister recalled that this aid substantially alleviates the initial investment, which translates into significant economic savings in the medium and long term for the beneficiaries on the island”.

The aid will cover up to 50% of the total cost of the installation with a maximum limit of 3,000 euros per project executed from October 11, 2025. The public funds are structured into three different categories for powers less than 10 kilowatts.

The award will be resolved by competitive bidding through a points system that prioritizes first homes, new installations, large families, and low-income individuals exempt from declaration, applying the registration order in case of a tie.

Previous Calls

This new campaign is added to the calls from previous years, which achieved notable success among the local population. In the 2024 fiscal year, the initial budget was 500,000 euros, but the island corporation was forced to increase funds to exceed 800,000 euros due to the massive response from citizens, which allowed for the registration of 346 applications and the resolution for a total of 283 final beneficiaries.

These actions added an aggregated power of 1,541.61 kilowatts in grid-connected facilities, 31.31 kilowatts in non-connected facilities, as well as 384.83 kilowatts in connected systems with battery support for 88 beneficiaries.

For its part, the 2025 edition consolidated the trend by maintaining a budget of 500,000 euros, which attracted 205 applications and concluded with 157 final beneficiaries, distributed in 722.54 kilowatts for 133 grid-connected facilities and 305.71 kilowatt-hours of battery storage for 54 beneficiaries. Based on these results, the Cabildo continues to decisively bet on the strategy of rooftop photovoltaic installations, as the ideal and priority model for expanding photovoltaic energy on the islands.

The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has been designated by the Cabildo as a collaborating entity for the call, so the management of the files can be processed through its website (camaralanzarote.org) or in person at its offices by appointment, for better service.
