The airline Aer Lingus has confirmed the cancellation of hundreds of flights from its summer schedule.
The Irish company indicated that flights have been cancelled due to "mandatory maintenance of the aircraft" and that "a limited number" of adjustments have been made to schedules, affecting around 2% of its total schedule.
The exclusive was given by the Irish newspaper The Sunday Independent, which estimated at 500, the cancelled flights by Aer Lingus, the vast majority from Dublin.
Although the airline has not published a list of affected destinations, Lanzarote at least does not appear on the lists of scheduled cuts leaked to the press.
The aforementioned Irish newspaper names five European destinations among the cuts: Ámsterdam, Atenas, Berlín, Faro, Múnich and Zúrich.
Among the most affected, also several destinations in the United Kingdom: London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Also names cut destinations from Ireland across the Atlantic: Seattle, San Francisco, Minneapolis-St Paul and Toronto.
