A man has killed his ten-year-old son in the municipality of Arona (Tenerife) and seriously injured his partner and the minor's mother, and was shot dead by the Civil Guard after he threatened the officers with a machete.
Sources from the Guardia Civil have confirmed to EFE that the incident, in which an agent was also injured, occurred around 1:00 AM this Friday in a home in the town of Cabo Blanco, Tenerife.
Sources have indicated that neighbors alerted to an altercation in the home where the 34-year-old man was found with a machete with which he apparently attacked the minor, son of both, the woman, and the officers who tried to arrest him.
Faced with the man's resistance, who injured an agent with the machete, he was shot and died on the spot, sources have indicated.
Inside the house was the child's corpse and the woman who has been transferred to a hospital center on the island in critical condition.
The injured Civil Guard agent also had to be transferred to a hospital center although his injuries are not serious.
Sources have indicated that everything seems to indicate that this is a case of gender-based violence and have specified that there were no previous complaints nor was the woman under any protection system.
