The Plenary of the Parliament of the Canary Islands approved this Wednesday, July 8, two legislative initiatives of special relevance for the autonomous community: the Law of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands and the new Canary Law of Science. Both norms represent the updating of the legal framework in areas considered strategic for the development of the archipelago.

The Law of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands establishes a specific legal regime for those municipalities whose activity is especially conditioned by the influx of visitors, with the aim of recognizing the singularities derived from the provision of services to a population that far exceeds the number of registered residents.

For its part, the new Canary Law of Science renews a regulatory framework in force for 25 years and adapts the regulation to the current challenges of research, innovation, and knowledge transfer in the Canary Islands.
