The Canary Islands have more than 250 people hospitalized due to coronavirus and there are 181 infected healthcare workers

This Friday, the Canary Islands have more than 250 patients hospitalized for coronavirus, of which 73 are in the ICU. In addition, according to the Ministry of Health, there are 181 infected healthcare workers in the archipelago.

Until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, as reflected in the report sent to the Ministry of Health, the Government of the Canary Islands had confirmed an accumulated 878 positive cases of Covid-19 (from which 20 discharges and 27 deaths must be deducted). By islands, the most affected is Tenerife with 609 accumulated cases, followed by Gran Canaria with 197 and La Palma with 39. As for Lanzarote, until Thursday night there were 24 accumulated cases, as in Fuerteventura. La Gomera accumulates six cases and El Hierro three.

In addition, the report sent to the Ministry of Health reflected 27 deaths, two of them in Lanzarote, and a number of accumulated discharges of 20 cases, one of them also on the island of Lanzarote.

 

Deaths by age groups


Regarding deaths, the most affected group has been those between 80 and 89 years old with 14 deaths, six women and eight men. One man over 90 years old has died in the Canary Islands with coronavirus, while between 70 and 79 years old, seven have died, six men and two women,

Regarding the age group of 60 to 69 years, two women have died, as well as one man between 50 to 59 years and two women between 30 to 39 years.

 

Situation of the hospitals 


Regarding the current situation of the hospitals, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that there are 249 hospitalized, eleven of them in Lanzarote. However, the latest data from the Management of the Molina Orosa Hospital confirms that in the last hours there have been two more admissions, so the figure rises to 13 hospitalized (9 in the ward and 4 in the ICU).

According to the Ministry of Health, at the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital there are 70 hospitalized, 24 in the ICU; at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands there are 63 admitted, 13 in the ICU; at the Hospital de La Palma there are four hospitalized, all of them in the ICU; and in El Hierro there is one hospitalized.

At the Insular Materno Infantil University Hospital Complex there are 48 patients admitted, 13 in the ICU; at the Doctor Negrín Hospital there are 51 hospitalized, 15 in the ICU, and at the Fuerteventura Hospital there is one person hospitalized.
