Workers of 112 Canarias, Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) and the rest of the emergency services included in the public company Gestión de Servicios para la Salud y la Seguridad (GSC), are called to an indefinite strike starting on August 25.
The reasons given by the unions to justify this measure are the intention to divide essential services, the lack of investment and the deterioration of management and treatment of personnel, they detail in a statement.
The committees denounce the "possible rupture" of an integrated model of emergency services that "citizens and the Parliament of the Canary Islands have valued in an unsurpassed way for more than three decades, and that today is put at risk by decisions adopted behind the backs of the teams and society".
They also allude to labor reasons such as changes of quadrants, shifts without covering, lack of publication of schedules, hiring outside the reserve lists and violation of rights recognized after collective conflict and approved by several ministries and by the Governing Council.
CSIF and CCOO warn that the organic and operational separation of key units such as the SUC "would compromise the global vision, prioritization and immediate allocation of resources" within the CECOES 112, a center where "every second is critical", which would increase the risk of errors and lack of coordination in simultaneous incidents.
The committees emphasize that "correct coordination requires an integrated service" and warn that the division would generate "internal frictions and a worse service to the citizen".
The organizations calling the strike demand that the regional executive and the ministries involved paralyze any operation to separate services and maintain the integrated coordination model.
As well as "immediately comply" with the labor rights agreed and signed by all parties; provide the promised investment and provide human and technical resources to Administration, Billing, Human Resources, Economic Division, Technical Unit, CECOES and SUC; and renew the management teams "responsible for the deterioration of management".
The committees also ask about the paralysis of the Planning and Quality assignment made by the General Directorate of Emergencies, and ask for explanations about the reasons and the impact that this decision would have on the professionalization of the service.
