A Maritime Rescue helicopter has rescued two men who were on board a dinghy that was sinking about 166 kilometers southeast of Gran Canaria and about 55 kilometers north of Cape Bojador (Western Sahara).

Maritime Rescue has not been able to specify with the information available so far what type of emergency it is, but sources from the emergency services have indicated to EFE that one of the rescued has a Spanish name and the other, Moroccan

Both are fine and are flying with their rescuers to Gran Canaria airport.

The notice was received at about 7.25 hours and, in principle, was going to be attended by the Rabat Rescue Center (Morocco).

However, the alert said that the dinghy had its two floats deflated and, as a matter of urgency, it was finally decided to mobilize the Helimer 215 helicopter from Gran Canaria and divert two merchant ships en route.
