The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, attended this Monday in Madrid the commemorative events for the National Holiday and Hispanic Day. With her presence, Astrid Pérez wanted to join a celebration that symbolizes the pride of belonging to Spain and the recognition of a common history and culture, as well as the ties that, on both sides of the Atlantic, continue to be part of a shared heritage.
The president highlighted that it is a date that also constitutes an opportunity to reaffirm the value of coexistence, respect, and unity within the diversity that characterizes Spanish society. “The feeling of Spain is demonstrated by accompanying those who, from the Canary Islands and Ceuta, live the reality of our borders every day,” stated Astrid Pérez.
The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands attended the parade of the Armed Forces, one of the main events of the day, to recognize the vocation, commitment, and dedication of the men and women who work in the service of Spain, both in national defense and in protecting citizen security.
After the parade, Astrid Pérez participated in the reception offered by Their Majesties the Kings at the Royal Palace, where she had the opportunity to greet Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and Their Royal Highnesses the Infantas.
The day brought together representatives of the main State institutions in Madrid on a date that transcends the official celebration and recalls the value of the historical, cultural, and linguistic ties that make up Hispanidad.
