Vaccination of healthcare personnel in Lanzarote

The island of Lanzarote has already started the vaccination of healthcare professionals, once it has concluded with the vaccination of the target group of social health centers, as Fuerteventura and La Palma have done.

In the rest of the islands, the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands will begin this Monday the vaccination of health personnel in charge of care for COVID-19, which makes up group II of the National Vaccination Strategy in Spain, which establishes the order of chronological priority of the population groups to be vaccinated.

During this weekend, vaccinations have continued in the Canary Islands, administering a total of 11,868 vaccines since the start of vaccination, 68% of the target population of the first group.

In this first stage, the vaccination of residents and personnel working in social health centers is already being completed and, in parallel, it continues with health professionals, both from Primary Care and Hospital Care, who work on the front line of care for COVID-19.

The Canary Health Service's forecast is to finish vaccination in social health centers next Thursday.

To give continuity to the Vaccination Plan, the SCS has been training Nursing professionals since December in the specificities of the administration of the new vaccines. In total, to date, 655 nurses from the SCS who usually work in the vaccination services of Primary and Specialized Care have been trained.

Of the total, 545 are responsible for vaccination in Primary Care, who in turn will train their respective teams in health centers, and the rest are nurses from Specialized Care.
