The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands warned this Thursday that they are detecting non-compliance with the rules against Covid-19 and has insisted on remembering the importance of respecting these measures, "as well as avoiding risky contacts and reducing the number of people in social and family gatherings to minimize the danger of contagion."
In the statement in which it reports daily on the new positives, which have skyrocketed to 378 in the last day, the Ministry refers specifically to one of the latest outbreaks detected in Tenerife, which originated on the terrace of a restaurant.
"The outbreak occurred at an end-of-year lunch in which workers from an educational center participated and which was held on the terrace of a restaurant establishment without keeping distance and at a table that exceeded the maximum number of diners allowed by the regulations against Covid-19", he emphasizes. For the moment, five positive cases have already been confirmed in that outbreak, while 45 other close contacts are still being followed up.
The note also gives details about another outbreak detected in El Hierro, which already has ten cases. According to them, "it mainly affects people between 18 and 25 years old, whose contact appears linked to nightlife in restaurants and binge drinking."
