The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, in collaboration with the Official Colleges of Pharmacists of the provinces of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, authorizes pharmacies to issue the COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
This measure, which is activated from this Monday, aims to facilitate access to this document for residents of the Canary Islands, as well as to decongest health centers that have been processing certificates for patients and users who could not access the app micertificadocovid.com or the website enabled by the Canary Islands Health Service for this purpose.
People interested in obtaining this document in pharmacies, which will be free of charge, must present their ID and, if requesting the COVID-19 certificate of a third party, it will be necessary to show the identification document of the person requesting it to register who is making the request.
For now, pharmacies will only issue certificates to residents, a fact that they will verify through the Canary Islands Health Card.
Residents of other autonomous communities who want to access the certificate will have to do so through digital services or by going to health centers.
The Ministry of Health thanks the official colleges of Pharmacists of both provinces for their willingness to collaborate requested at all times.
Mobile application
Likewise, the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reminds that the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has the mobile application and the website www.miCertificadocovid.com so that anyone already vaccinated, with one or two doses or with the booster dose, can access, save or print their COVID certificate.
The implementation of this document in the islands was ratified by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), under the modality of mandatory use, for all sectors that are subject to capacity or schedule restrictions in the islands that are in alert levels 3 and 4.
This measure, which came into effect on December 25 and will be valid for one month, will be subject to monitoring and evaluation, without prejudice to the possibility of a new extension depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation.
The mandatory certificate for establishments and activities subject to time and capacity limits on the islands in levels 3 and 4 does not allow them to benefit from applying measures of the lower level as was happening when the use of the COVID certificate remained voluntary.
The objective is to establish exceptional control measures of the health situation of people who access certain establishments, facilities or activities considered at risk for the transmission of COVID-19, to stop its spread.
Thus, the establishments, facilities or activities of the islands that are in health alert levels 3 and 4 that are affected by the application of the mandatory COVID certificate are hospitality and restaurant establishments, nightlife and those dedicated to recreational and gambling activities with a capacity of more than 30 people; events and celebrations with a concentration of people and music festivals with attendance of more than 500 people; sporting events with attendance of more than 500 people; public shows with attendance of more than 500 people; cultural activities in cinemas, theaters, auditoriums and similar whose opening license has a capacity of more than 50 people; gyms and similar equipment: health establishments and centers and residential or day socio-health centers.
The remaining establishments, facilities or activities, such as shops, hairdressers and transport, among others, in which users remain wearing a mask, on the islands that are in health alert levels 3 and 4, may apply the certificate voluntarily.
Voluntary use
The COVID certificate is for voluntary use to access certain establishments and activities on the islands that are in levels 1 and 2, a measure that was also ratified by the TSJC and that allows establishments that use it to benefit from the capacity and schedules of the level lower than those in which the island in question is located.
