A father faces 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting his four-year-old daughter in the Canary Islands

The Public Prosecutor's Office also requests that the accused be ordered to pay the minor an amount of 30,000 euros

The father of a girl residing in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will face a request for a 15-year prison sentence and 9 more years of supervised release accused of having sexually assaulted his daughter when she was only four years old.

The facts that the Audiencia de Las Palmas will judge this Thursday occurred, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, "on undetermined days prior to November 9, 2023, when the accused lived with his daughter - 4 years old at the time of the events - in the family home".In the opinion of the public prosecution, "they constitute a crime of sexual assault against minors under 16 years of age".In addition to the prison sentence, the prosecution requests that the man be sentenced to 20 years of special disqualification for any profession or trade that involves regular and direct contact with minors and that he be prohibited from approaching within 500 meters of his daughter or establishing any type of communication with her for a period of 18 yearsAs it concerns a foreigner residing in Spain with his regularized situation, the prosecution proposes that, in his case, a substitution of the prison sentence for expulsion from the country be applied once two-thirds of it have been served, with a prohibition from returning to Spain for a period of 10 years from the date of his departure

And, in terms of civil liability, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests that the accused be ordered to pay an amount of 30,000 euros to his daughter, as compensation for moral damages.
