The spokesperson for Coalición Canaria (CC) in the Congress of Deputies, Cristina Valido, conveyed today, Monday, "all the solidarity and all the support of the people of the Canary Islands" to the president of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski, during the visit that the Ukrainian leader made to the Cortes. "Although Ukraine is very far from the Canary Islands, the Canary Islands have always been close to Ukraine from the very first moment," Cristina Valido told President Zelenski at an event attended by the president of the Congress of Deputies and the president of the Senate, as well as representatives of the parliamentary groups in both chambers.
Cristina Valido also underlined the "unwavering commitment of the Canary Islands and the entire society of the islands to the fight for the sovereignty, freedom and democracy of Ukraine" as it has been more than two years since the military invasion of Russia. "As a representative of Coalición Canaria, and of the people, of the citizens of the Canary Islands, I want to convey all our solidarity with the brotherly people of Ukraine in these moments of enormous difficulty, suffering and pain due to the undignified aggression suffered by their cities and
their towns since February 24, 2022," said the nationalist deputy, who received the gratitude of President Zelenski with a reminder of a personal visit that the Ukrainian leader made to the archipelago.
