The Lanzarote parliamentarians from the Canary Nationalist Group (CC), David Toledo, Oswaldo Betancort, and Cristina Calero, have celebrated the definitive approval of the 23 amendments incorporated into the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2026, which represent a direct injection of an additional 6,749,795 euros for Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
These amendments, accepted after the negotiation work carried out in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, reinforce key areas such as health, infrastructure, housing, social welfare, culture, ecological transition, agriculture, and coastal security, responding to historical demands from both islands.
Among the notable actions are significant healthcare investments, such as the renovation and expansion of health centers, improvements at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, and new facilities for hospital energy infrastructure; in addition to strategic projects like the Hervideros road, the port of La Graciosa, the acquisition of protected housing in Yaiza, the high-requirement residence of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, or the promotion of cultural and heritage spaces
The president of the Canarian Nationalist Group and parliamentarian for Lanzarote, David Toledo, has stressed that "these 23 amendments demonstrate that when Lanzarote has a strong and coordinated voice in Parliament, results arrive and translate into real improvements for citizens".
Toledo recalled that Coalición Canaria already presented an unprecedented investment package for Lanzarote and La Graciosa in November, with 147 million euros contemplated in the 2026 Budget Bill, to which are added 4 million from the 2025 settlement and now these approved amendments.
"**All of this will allow 2026 to be a historic year**, with a global investment that will almost reach 160 million euros, the greatest investment effort by the Government of the Canary Islands in Lanzarote and La Graciosa," Toledo states on behalf of the three nationalist parliamentarians. Finally, David Toledo, Oswaldo Betancort, and Cristina Calero agree in stating that "we will continue to defend the interests of our island and La Graciosa in every budget debate, with a useful, rigorous policy focused on improving public services, infrastructure, and the quality of life of our people."
