The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, visited the Tinajo and Tinecheide Wrestling Club, in Lanzarote, as part of the institutional tour she is undertaking throughout the islands to learn about and highlight the places, traditions, and people who keep Canarian identity alive.
On this occasion, the president was able to learn firsthand about the work carried out by the clubs, confirming the excellent state of Canarian wrestling on the island, both in its female aspect and in the training of new generations through wrestling schools.
Astrid Pérez highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting this vernacular sport, which continues to be passed down from generation to generation and represents values such as respect, effort, self-improvement, and nobility, deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of the Canary Islands.
The visit allowed for a meeting with athletes, wrestlers, and coaches, underscoring the commitment of the Tinajo and Tinecheide Wrestling Club to the conservation and future of one of the archipelago's main identity markers.
