A reader has contacted La Voz de Lanzarote to ask about the progress of the initiative that the popular deputy Cándido Reguera took to Congress and was approved in November. This proposal implied the free parking service at the Guacimeta airport for people who have to travel to other islands or the Peninsula due to an illness.
Through the section "You also make LA VOZ", he asked "when will the free parking for patients who travel to other islands for medical consultations start working in the airport parking lot?". He recalled that "a few months ago" the approval of this initiative was announced, but when he asked the parking staff last week, because he had to go to the doctor, they knew nothing. In his writing, this reader was indignant and asked us to ask Cándido Reguera what has happened with this measure. This is the deputy's response:
"When an initiative of these characteristics is approved, what the Parliament does is urge the Government to execute this mandate of the Lower House, and it is the Government that has to arbitrate the measures and agreements with the Government of the Canary Islands to implement it, and on this occasion it has not yet implemented it. That is why I am going to ask some questions in the Plenary to see why that mandate of Congress has not yet been applied. It must be remembered that all the groups approved it except the PSOE and I also want to remember that the initiatives of Congress are not executive, it is the Government that has to execute it now". In Cándido Reguera's opinion, it would be "very simple" to put this measure into practice, since it would be enough for "passengers to present the doctor's note justifying that they are traveling for these reasons".
