"My complaint that I want to send you is about the works that the company "CONSTRUCCIONES BRUESA" is carrying out in front of my business on the Vía Medular, near the Property Registry.

My discomfort, and I believe that of most of the neighbors, is not because of the work itself, since I understand that it is a benefit for Arrecife and for all citizens. My discomfort is due to the passivity with which this work is being carried out. The trench has been opened three weeks ago by the company "Transportes y excavaciones Tiagua". For 4 days, a maximum of two operators from this company have worked on it, opening the trench in 2 days and placing the pipes in 1 day.

However, no operator has been seen working since last week, which they already have us used to because in the previous section that comprised from the roundabout of the Courts to the detour behind the parking lot of the Registry, the same excavation company opened the trench in August of last year. They worked one day yes and four no and at the beginning of February they began to work flat out finishing it in approximately 10 days, just before the Carnival parade.

Currently, we are immersed in a deep crisis and all small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are struggling to withstand the pull. But if some gentlemen dedicate themselves to fencing off sections of roads, making a trench about 3 meters deep in them and then taking all their operators and machinery to other different works and do not finish their work, none of us will be able to survive these injustices, especially when you do not know who to turn to to file a complaint, since this work belongs to the Government of the Canary Islands.

I have been able to contact the manager that the company "Bruesa" has at the level of the province of Las Palmas and he tells me that they have had a problem with a pressure machine that they are waiting for it to arrive, that he believes that next week they will continue if another problem does not arise. But these are the same excuses that I am already used to hearing, since in the previous section I also complained and they told me that the pipes had a leak and they could not close, "that they were on it".

However, months passed and no one was seen working on the repair, which they did and very quickly as I have related previously just before the Carnival parade passed by.

I understand that on the part of the citizens we have to be patient with these works, but I also understand that when a work of this magnitude is carried out, the company or companies that have been awarded the contract to carry it out have to be very foresighted and have all the necessary material placed in Lanzarote and sufficient labor to be able to carry them out.

What cannot be tolerated is that, as the State has already granted them the works, they excavate and then everything is paralyzed until there is time, labor (which unfortunately is currently abundant on the island of Lanzarote) or sufficient materials that are arriving in dribs and drabs to be able to continue with it.

In my humble opinion, there should be a supervision of these works by the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as dividing the awards of these to several companies and not monopolizing everything to a few, since at present most of the construction companies are going through very difficult times and are being forced to dismiss their workers and close their doors.

This measure, I repeat in my humble opinion, would be a small relief for a few months for these companies dedicated to construction, for the families of their employees who are currently with an unemployment subsidy and unable to face many payments that they have behind them and would accelerate the completion of the works.

Thus, there would be much less inconvenience to citizens and small businesses like mine that are doing irreparable damage and that every day we see decrease our income to be able to face our payments due to the lack of professionalism and ethics of these gentlemen.

If the cake of the awards of works, whether from the State, the Government of the Canary Islands, municipalities or Cabildo, were distributed more equitably, they would give a great boost to the economy of all, which we greatly need".
