They denounce that "for a month" no motorcycle license exams have been carried out in Lanzarote: "It's a disgrace"

Several citizens have contacted La Voz to denounce the impossibility of taking exams to obtain a motorcycle license in Lanzarote. According to them, the exams were suspended "a month ago" due to the Arrecife Carnival, but "they have not been resumed."

"My son was told in early February that he could not take the exam, because the Arrecife Fairground is the only place that is approved and that for three weeks, due to the Carnival, it would not be possible to do it," says a father of a young man who is waiting to be able to take the exam.

"Now he was supposed to do it this Friday, but at the driving school they told him that for reasons beyond their control he couldn't do it either," adds this man, who says that, faced with this, he decided to go to the DGT Office in Arrecife "to see what is happening."

There, they assure that they were told that "they have problems", because "of the three examiners there are, two are on leave" and that "let's see if they could do the exams for this month". "I don't know if the examiner there is doing car exams or what," says this citizen, who considers that "it is a disgrace." He also states that the DGT office is in "a ridiculous situation." "Because you enter and there is only one window to attend," he specifies.

They also demand a space dedicated only to exams

"The result is that in Lanzarote, practically, to obtain a driver's license, you have to wait at least two months. I don't know, there are very long times, criticizes this father, who also believes that there should be another place where exams can be taken all year round. "If the Fairground cannot be used during carnivals, they should look for another place," he points out.

"It is an absolute disgrace that every time there is an event, the maneuver exams for the motorcycle license are suspended," another citizen also complained these days, who stated that he had planned to have taken the exam on Friday, February 14 and that he had not been able to do so. "It is third-world that on this island there is no enclosed space only for this type of exam, such as the one in front of the Aguapark in Costa Teguise for trucks and buses," he pointed out.

In addition, in the case of this citizen, he also denounced the "lamentable state" of the exam area of the Fairground, "with poorly visible markings and asphalt in poor condition." "Apart from the people who park inside the space and you have to ask them to please move away. It's discouraging," he added.
