The Costa Teguise Neighborhood Association criticizes the closure of two bank branches

The Costa Teguise Residents' Association has regretted this Friday the closure of two bank branches in the town. According to its president, Manuel Font, from the 16th the town will no longer have Deutschebank service and, from March 31, there will be no Banco Popular office either. For the association, this is a "damage" to Costa Teguise and its inhabitants.

In the case of Deustchebank, it maintained an agreement with Correos by which it offered banking services in that postal office. According to the president of the association, the entity has "broken that relationship" and Correos "has no information that another bank will cover that service." In the case of Banco Popular, Font points out that they are "reducing offices." The closure of the one in Costa Teguise, he stresses, will force its clients to travel to Arrecife to do "any procedure, because there will be no office here."

"One of the tourist areas of the island is left without the service of two banks," he laments. The president of the Costa Teguise Residents' Association recalls the "opposition" that was generated when Bankia "wanted to close the branches in the towns." "The mayor took action on the matter and asked that they be maintained," he points out. However, it should be noted that in those cases these were towns that would have been left without any entity providing that service. Regarding these two cases in Costa Teguise, the City Council has confirmed that the councilor in charge of this tourist town has been interested in these closures. However, they point out that these are "restructurings" by these companies and that the City Council has not been able to do anything about it.
