"Now that the waters are calm again and the activity of the professional diving cycle is recovering, I think it is time to write these lines with no other purpose than to give a personal opinion. Cefe and Luis were the diving instructors at the Fishing School for fourteen years.
They were pioneers in teaching the professional diving training cycle. In Arrecife, at our Fishing School, it was the first place in Spain where these teachings were taught. They were also great colleagues and great teachers.
"Their training cycle", and I'm going to call it that, because the two of them were the soul of the cycle, which was exemplary in terms of training. Students continuously in the water diving, working in quasi-real conditions, inventing practices and looking for material to carry them out when there was no budget. Of course, for me they were always an example to follow.
Both, specialist teachers hired by the Ministry of Education, sometimes in October, sometimes in September and always the last to join the course, did not lose their enthusiasm and took the students out year after year.
This course, the Ministry of Education has not renewed their contract. I don't know what the reason is. Finally, on October 31, the missing diving instructor joined, without detracting from the work that the two new diving instructors can do, which there is no reason to doubt will be excellent, although the experience accumulated over fourteen years will hardly be replaceable.
What is the result of this "journey", in this era where "quality" seems like a magic word and reports on Education fill pages of newspapers and hours of debates, we have lost two exemplary colleagues, with great experience and, of course, excellent teachers in their area. As of November 1, students have not started diving and reaching the quality standards will involve a considerable effort.
Finally, I wish them both the best in their new journey through life and when they want a friend they know where they have one".
