A resident of the area of Calle Jerez, Calle Andalucía, and its side streets in Arrecife claims to have been "more than five or six months without public lighting," and even indicates that a light point on Calle Jerez has been off for over a year. The situation, she denounces, has become "unsustainable."

This affected resident has contacted La Voz de Lanzarote to describe the neighborhood's "despair": "We are completely in the dark. All the streets without light. We have been suffering this situation for months and no one pays attention to us. We call the Local Police, as Jonathan de León tells us to, but they don't answer. I've called thousands of times and they never pick up the phone."

The lack of lighting, he assures, has favored robberies, acts of vandalism, and damage to vehicles parked on public roads"We have cars all scratched, kicks on the doors, stones in the windows... This is a disgrace. Without lights, anyone feels impunity," explains the neighbor. Furthermore, she criticizes that they do not get a municipal response and that their formal complaints "are not addressed.""I beg you to publish it, to see if they listen to you. They don't listen to us citizens. We just want security and for them to fix the lighting," she addsThe neighbor has also sent a recorded video, in which she shows the dark streets as she walks through the neighborhood, assuring that "all the alleys" in the area are like this.He insists that he is looking for nothing more than "to live peacefully," with fewer robberies, less vandalism, and a safe environment. "The only thing we ask is that they turn the streetlights back on," they conclude
