A citizen of Lanzarote, who has agricultural land in La Geria, has contacted La Voz to report that he is receiving "excessive" invoices from Canal Gestión for water that he claims he has not consumed. "It's a scam," he says.
Specifically, this man claims that in recent months he received two invoices "for more than 200 euros" each, when he "barely" consumes water and previously had a consumption "of six or eight euros." "It's outrageous, when it's water for the field, which is much cheaper," adds this citizen, who claims to have verified that "air is passing" through the pipes. "I have recorded a video with the water meter running while all the taps are closed," says this citizen, who has sent the images to La Voz. "I'm paying for air," he says in the recording.
Faced with this, this citizen has contacted Canal Gestión. "We have called several times, we have appeared there and they tell us that they are going to send someone, but no one has come," he points out. However, having refused to pay these invoices, which amount to about 486 euros, he claims to have received "already two cut-off notices."
"I have told them that if they have to cut off the water, let them cut it off, that I prefer that to being charged for water that I am not using, but they do not come to repair or cut it off," says this citizen, who however has continued to receive invoices from Canal Gestión.
The last one, which La Voz has had access to, amounts to about 85 euros. "It's less, but it doesn't make any sense, because we are not using the water. Since this happened, we have been bringing water from outside so as not to consume from there and excessive consumptions continue to come," he denounces.
