A member of Civil Protection, specifically from the Canine Unit, has sent a letter to La Voz in response to the complaint made public by a woman, who claimed that three families had left the Arrecife Fairgrounds this Tuesday during the second phase of the 'murgas' contest due to the presence of two dogs. "Unfortunately, many falsehoods are being said," says this agent, who was precisely the one who took care of the dog during this carnival day.
"On the day in question, there was only one dog in the Fairgrounds and not two. So that's the first lie that has been told. Also, the dog was a 9-month-old puppy, which I assure you doesn't even know how to growl yet," he says. In this sense, the member of Civil Protection explains that these situations in which there is a lot of crowding of people are usually taken advantage of so that, from puppies, the dogs get used to the hustle and bustle and loud noises.
In this way, within a year when these dogs are already trained, they will not be scared in the middle of a search or rescue, even if there are shouts, sirens and many people around them. "This type of event, such as the 'murgas', represents an ideal scenario for them," he indicates, while inviting the woman who reported these events to witness a Civil Protection training session so that she can see how these animals behave.
"I have been very surprised by this lady's complaint. I was carrying the dog that same day and nobody complained to me about anything. In fact, many people took photos with the dog," explains this member of Civil Protection. "Do you think that if the dog was problematic I would let him play with my children or with other children?" he asks.
He also explains that the dog is a Belgian Shepherd and asks the woman who reported the events to find out about the characteristics of this breed so that she can see that it is not dangerous.
