The Sports City Pavilion of Lanzarote experienced a high-voltage night in the sixth round of the Guerreras Iberdrola League. Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote, supported by their fans, fearlessly faced the almighty Super Amara Bera Bera, undefeated leader and three-time champion of the category. Despite the final score of 22-25, the locals offered one of their best performances of the season and managed to dominate a good part of the match.

The start was hesitant for both teams, with errors in circulation and several failed shots. Bera Bera opened the scoring in the 3:45 minute, but Lorena Zarco tied it just a minute later, and Brenda Roger made it 2-1 after a great individual play that ignited the stands. Zonzamas grew in defense, well supported by an inspired Alicia Robles in goal, and with Marie Louis effective from the seven-meter line (5-3, min. 13:50), they managed to maintain the initiative.

The Basque team reacted with their usual intensity, but every comeback attempt was met with a response from the Lanzarote team. Agustina López scored one of the goals of the night (8-5), although the visitors' push brought the game to 12-11, which was the score at halftime, after a goal from Daniela Jerónimo in the final moments.

The second half started with a cannon shot from Agustina López that extended the local advantage, but little by little Bera Bera imposed its deep bench and its rhythm. At 45 minutes, they moved ahead for the first time on the scoreboard and, with a more solid defense, achieved a three-goal lead (18-21, min. 51) that proved definitive. Zonzamas, already against the current, felt the effort and could not reverse the situation despite the push of its public.

Even so, the 22-25 final score left a feeling of pride. The new "batatero" project showed character, order, and a clear improvement compared to the previous match, the last one under the outgoing coach. Goalkeepers Robles and Menucci were among the standouts, along with Marie Louis (5 goals) and Agustina López (3). For the visiting team, Elke Karsten and Eszter Ogonovszky led Bera Bera with five and four goals respectively.

Zonzamas falls, but does so standing. With this ascending line, they will face the island derby against CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife next Saturday, October 25, in a duel full of emotion and local rivalry corresponding to matchday 7 of the championship.
