Zárate United was proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands Beach Soccer in Lanzarote

El Reducto beach in Arrecife hosted the Final Master of the XIX Canary Islands Beach Soccer Championship this past weekend. The champions of the four tournaments of the regional circuit met in Lanzarote, and were joined by the four Lanzarote teams that passed the previous phase of the competition. The Gran Canaria team of Zárate United took the title of champion of the Canary Islands, after defeating the Lanzarote team of La Patente.com in the grand final by a clear 5 to 1.

On the morning of last Friday, the Final Master of the XIX Canary Islands Beach Soccer Championship began, with the Lanzarote island phase being played. The Lanzarote teams fought for the four places that were at stake to play the regional phase of the competition. "Los Sapos", "La Patente.com", "Rompetobillos" and "CSK La Ropa" were the four teams from the island of Lanzarote that accessed the final phase of the competition and joined the champions of the four previous tournaments. The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four teams, with the group stage being played on Saturday. 

The semi-finals and the grand final of the competition were reserved for Sunday morning. In the first semi-final, Zárate United, champion in Playa del Inglés, had many problems to defeat Unión Risco, winner of the event held last week in Jandía. The final result of the match was 2 to 1 for Zárate United. For its part, La Patente.com won the second semi-final by 2 to 0 against Zárate Atlético, a team that came to Lanzarote after winning the event held in Las Canteras. 

The grand final of the XIX Canary Islands Beach Soccer Championship had no color, with Zárate United winning by a resounding 5 to 1 against La Patente.com. Dani put Zárate United ahead in the first half and at the start of the second half José David equalized for the Lanzarote team. From that moment on, the equality ended. Two goals from Mauri and two goals from Dani, sentenced the match in favor of Zárate United, conquering their first title of champion of the Canary Islands Beach Soccer. 

The XIX Canary Islands Beach Soccer Championship has been an event within the San Ginés 2014 festival program. Paca Toledo, Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council, and José Montelongo, Deputy Mayor of Arrecife, were present at the awards ceremony. The players of Zárate United Dani and Ancor, were awarded as top scorer of the tournament and best goalkeeper, respectively. And Antonio Yeray, player of La Patente.com, was named best gladiator of the sand.
