On Thursday night, the ninth edition of the Famara Total officially began with the celebration of the Famara Total Vertical Nocturna by Lanzarote Sports Destination, a race that challenged participants to climb the Famara cliff, from the Caleta dock to the Ermita de Las Nieves. At the finish line, each of the participants was received by Olivia Duque, mayoress of Teguise, Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and Alejandro Ramírez, Councilor of Sports of the Teguise City Council.
The race, which had the participation of 105 runners from the islands, the peninsula and abroad, took place in ideal conditions thanks to the absence of wind and heat, which made the experience much more pleasant for the competitors. The participants, both in individual and in pairs, faced a 6.5-kilometer course with a positive difference in altitude of 600 meters.
In the pairs category, the team “MC2Action 1”, made up of Óscar Padrón and Rayco Hernández, took the victory with a total time of 40'53''. Among the veterans, Fernando Pérez Cabrera (HTT) and Laura Marina González Betancort were the fastest, recording times of 46'38'' and 1:14'07'', respectively. The fastest residents were Adrián Hernández and Rosa Castellano Rivera, who completed the course in 39'31'' for him and 1:03'06'' for her.
In the general men's classification, Yoel de Paz Baeza (Wild Trail Proyect) was crowned champion again with a time of 35'10''. Despite not surpassing his own record, De Paz once again demonstrated his dominance in this event. He was accompanied on the podium by Ione Guerra Almeida (Arista Team) and Jorge Hernández González (Map Trail) with times of 37'46'' and 38'32'', respectively.
The women's competition was even more competitive. Rosy Fontes Gutierrez (Cavelanz) took the victory with a time of 57'50'', beating Eva Guirado Tejera (Triyaiza) and Cris Molina (Todo por un sueño), who occupied the second and third place on the podium, by only 52 seconds.
