A total of 46 teams are part of the official list of entries in the second Rallysprint of Yaiza, which will be held during the night of Friday the 26th and the morning of Saturday.
On the afternoon of this Tuesday, the complete list has been published in order of departure. Number 1 corresponds once again to the current Lanzarote champion team, formed by Toñín Suárez-Jorge Cedrés, with Porsche 911 GT3, who was also the winner of the first edition and the current leader of the island competition. Oliver Rodríguez-David Rivero and Yeray Lemes-Javier Afonso are the bearers of numbers 2 and 3, also with Porsche 911s, the same order as in the provisional classification of the island championship. These three teams are the top favorites for the final podium and will play for the victory in the southern race of Lanzarote.
The event was presented this Tuesday in the Plaza de Los Remedios, next to the House of Culture, where a starting ramp was simulated with the physical presence of Toñín Suárez's Porsche.
Representatives of the Yaiza City Council, the Automobile Federation and the organization, kicked off this event that will bring together the world of motorsport this weekend in the southern municipality of Lanzarote, based in the tourist area of Playa Blanca.
The event was presided over by the mayor of Yaiza, Oscar Noda, who highlighted the consolidation of this sporting event "after a very successful start last year." "It is an event that is totally in line with the City Council's objective of uniting sport with tourism. Or what is the same, betting on active tourism, as Yaiza has been demonstrating in recent times," added Noda.
He was accompanied by the Councilor for Sports of the southern Consistory, Angel Lago, who highlighted "the good harmony with the organization to be able to improve the event a lot this year", such as the added incentive of the nocturnality of two of the four passes to the section of Las Breñas-Las Casitas, the protagonist once again of the rallysprint. He also thanked the Cabildo and its Department of Sports for their important support in making "a better event in 2022" possible.
On the sports side, the president of the FALP, Miguel Angel Domínguez, attended, who highlighted the important participation of mostly Lanzarote drivers, and thanked those from other islands for "the effort of running this event on the calendar in the middle of August." And for the CD. Evesport, its president José Víctor Rodríguez, was in charge of explaining how the competition would develop, with activity from Friday afternoon with the verifications and departure in Playa Blanca, before the start of the race at 9:30 p.m. this Friday, August 26, to continue on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.
Security Board Meeting
Prior to the presentation of the event, the mandatory meeting of the security board took place in the House of Culture of Yaiza, for the coordination of all the parties and services involved, such as Local Police, Civil Protection, Civil Guard, firefighters, emergency services, etc.
All the control and security assembly of the rallysprint was supervised, both in relation to the participating teams, as well as the public and residents of the area affected by the competition, with the aim that "the entire planned plan is fulfilled and to attend to possible incidents during the event." José Víctor Rodríguez, as race director, was in charge of explaining the details of the plan, for a better understanding of it in case it had to be executed for justified reasons.
