Yaiza defeats Tenerife B to move away from relegation

Match corresponding to the Third Division RFEF on matchday 28 of the competition.

Unión Sur Yaiza

Unión Sur Yaiza achieved their fourth consecutive victory this Saturday against Tenerife B (4-3) at the Municipal de Yaiza in a match corresponding to the Third Division RFEF on matchday 28 of the competition.

It seems that the verdinegros, as the club itself explains in a press release, have gotten the hang of the Tenerife subsidiary this year, as they have been able to win both matches of the regular season.

Tenerife B arrived at the green of Yaiza among the group of teams in the promotion playoff zone and have seen how the defeat against the conejeros left them out of it, one point behind the subsidiary of Las Palmas.

The match was heart-stopping for both sides. While the blanquiazul subsidiary reached halftime ahead on the scoreboard, with an initial goal from Cacho, an equalizer from Trovento, and a response from César. In the second half, madness appeared. After goals from Roy and Senem, the blanquiazul Adrián equalized, but Acorán put the finishing touch on a crazy afternoon in Yaiza.

After some initial probing minutes between both teams, the illusion of the locals was slapped in the face because, after a loss of possession in the center of the field, a shot from the edge of the area, soft and low, from Cacho, slipped in, barely touching, through the left post of Álex Medina, who was surprised. Tenerife took the lead on the scoreboard in the 13th minute. There is still a lot left, everyone present thought, and they were not wrong.

The verdinegro team did not give up and continued to try with very direct football against those of Leandro Cabrera. Three minutes later, almost with the blanquiazules still celebrating the goal, the ball arrived at the magician Trovento who, after dribbling what seemed like thirty-five opponents, took a left-footed shot to the far post, pushed with the soul, which slipped into the Tenerife goal. Víctor could do nothing. Tie on the scoreboard of Yaiza and the stands, with nearly 500 people, fuller than ever this season, vibrated again with the greens.

The match began in a quieter segment, with the teams biding their time.

In the 37th minute, a new loss of possession in the center left Tenerife with total freedom in front of the Yaiza goal, shooting up to three times at Álex Medina who could do nothing against the last shot from César. With that goal, they reached halftime with a Tenerife advantage (1-2).

It seems that Miguel Fernández's talk at halftime had an effect because the team improved in defensive tasks and did not lose face in the match. Javi Melián came on for Álvaro in the locals.

After several minutes of probing, both teams began to look for the goal. In the 15th minute, Alassan tried to surprise Álex Medina from almost the center of the field, but the goalkeeper, attentive, made nothing of the shot.

After several attempts by Roy, Acorán, and Trovento, it was going to be the blond and cheeky Roy who, in the 22nd minute, shot from the left corner of the Tenerife area and surprised the visiting goalkeeper to put the tie at two on the scoreboard.

Driven by the need and the encouragement of the stands, those of Miguel Fernández were incisive and, nearing half an hour of play after the restart, Senem scored again with a header in the small area from a cross by Javi Melián. The greens were starting to believe it and joy and euphoria settled definitively in the stands of the Municipal de Yaiza.

The match was further tarnished for those of Leandro Cabrera when, in the 76th minute, the referee punished with a direct red card an unsportsmanlike action towards Roy by Otero. Roy had to leave the field, in pain, three minutes later. Far from being discouraged, the Tenerife players used their grit and the football of Thierno, who kept the Tenerife subsidiary with options. A wonderful cross from him from the left allowed Adrián to equalize again on the scoreboard and pour tons of ice water on the local fans.

CD Tenerife B did not have enough and wanted more, shortly after the tie, a header from Raúl put an imperial Álex Medina to the test again.

Emiliano Trovento had the goal at his feet with a chip, but the post stood in his way when the entire field saw the ball already inside. But in the last minutes of the match, madness rewarded the locals. A through ball from the Magician Trovento left Acorán alone against Víctor and he did not fail. The referee unfairly added seven minutes that Tenerife B tried to take advantage of looking for the tie, but it became an impossible task. Victory for Unión Sur Yaiza that places them in twelfth place with 35 points. With two matchdays to go, ten points from the relegation places and four above Marino, their next rival. Once the ghost of relegation is gone, a single point against Marino would also dispel doubts about a possible relegation of El Paso, certifying permanence and making good everything that has happened in a season finale that is about to be described as wonderful, like life.
