Gran Canaria center, Xavi Rey, knows what it's like to play in the Spanish U14 Championship, a competition he won with Regal FC Barcelona in the 2010 edition in Ourense. Xavi Rey has very good memories of the event and recommends to the young players who will be in Lanzarote from June 19 to 25 to "enjoy all the basketball they have inside and the experience, which will be very beautiful".
"I remember we had a great time playing", explains the Gran Canaria player, although he assures that "most of the memories are off the court with friends, laughing all the time and having a good time". Regarding the experience of playing a Spanish Championship, Xavi Rey says that he loved spending "a week away from home with a lot of friends". "It was the first championship I played, and for me it was the most special", adds Rey.
The young promises of national basketball aspire to reach the top, although this should not be their biggest concern. Xavi Rey recommends to the players that "they don't worry about where they will get in this sport, that they only have fun and that they don't put too much pressure on themselves". And he suggests that "they should try their best, and what will be, will be".
