Evesport is already fully involved in confirming the international stars that will be in the 25th edition of the Isla de los Volcanes-Ciudad de Arrecife 2023 Land Rally, one month after its celebration on September 1 and 2. For the moment and to commemorate the "silver" edition, the presence of two world championship drivers has been confirmed, whose names were already advanced at the time during the conversations. These are the Norwegian Mads Ostberg and the Paraguayan Diego Domínguez, the latter having Rogelio Peñae from Gran Canaria as co-driver, who has been a fundamental piece in convincing the young participant in the WRC3 to come to Lanzarote.
Mads Ostberg, with the Swedish co-driver Patrik Barth, form one of the important teams of MRF Tyres in the FIA-ERC, although the results are not being as desired for his team and the Citroen C3 Rally2. With extensive experience in the World Championship, where he has achieved numerous podiums and some absolute victories. At 35 years old he is already well known to fans for his participation in the Canary Islands Rally and spending part of his holidays with his family in Gran Canaria for many years.
Domínguez and Peñate are having a very good 2023 season in the WRC3, leading the category and with resounding victories in their category, such as the one achieved in the Safari Rally in Kenya.
The presence of two Canarian champion drivers has also been confirmed these days, who are sure to give a lot of spectacle, in addition to making things more difficult for the world championship drivers. This is the case of Yeray Lemes from Lanzarote, winner in 2021, and Juan Carlos Quintana, current champion of the Spanish Gravel Rally Cup.
They will all be at the start with vehicles in the Rally2 category, such as Hyundai, Skoda or Citroen.
Registration can be done through the official website of the rally and the dedicated website www.VMRM.net, until 2 pm on Wednesday, August 23. Two days later the official list of participants will be published, on August 25 at 8 pm. In addition to cars, the event is open to motorcycles and quads of the Motorcycle Federation. The list of drivers is not closed either
Remember that the Lanzarote event will be held following the regulations of the Spanish Gravel Rally Cup and the Canary Islands Championship of the specialty. In fact, for another year the inspection has been requested to enter the CERT in 2024.
