El Reducto beach, in Arrecife, hosted on Saturday afternoon the official presentation of the Reducto Wrestling Club, in what was the return of women's Canarian wrestling to the island of Lanzarote after more than a decade of absence. An event that had the support and collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City Council of Arrecife, led by Jacobo Lemes.
The Lanzarote team faced CL Chacaica from Tenerife, giving a good impression and being accompanied by a good number of fans who did not want to miss a historic day for the vernacular sport of Arrecife.
The deputy mayor of Arrecife, Samuel Martín, was present at the presentation of CL Reducto and valued the "great effort that the club has made to recover women's Canarian wrestling for the capital and for the island of Lanzarote." Martín predicts "a great future for this new club that has decided to bet on women's sports."
The young Daniela Cazorla was in charge of adding the first point to the CL Reducto scoreboard, after giving the first to Coraima San Antonio and ending the second hold in separated. The Tenerife team reacted with points from Sasha Rodríguez and Marta Medina, who left Alexandra Guillén and Daniela Cazorla out of the fight.
CL Chacaica achieved a three-point advantage thanks to the good performance of Selene Cabrera and Sasha Rodríguez. Selene Cabrera gave Maite Machín two in a row and Sasha Rodríguez did the same with Verónica Oliveros. The local Ana Alemán was in charge of reducing the differences on the scoreboard by leaving Marta Medina and Andrea Regalado out of the fight, giving both of them two in a row. Previously, Selene Cabrera and Neli Díaz put 6-9 on the scoreboard by eliminating Nuria Oliveros and Yaritza Díaz, respectively.
CL Reducto got closer on the scoreboard with the points scored by Miriam Meneses and Ana Alemán. Miriam Meneses gave Neli Díaz two in a row and Ana Alemán did the same with Sasha Rodríguez. Damarias Santana and Selene Cabrera were mutually eliminated, after each fighter scored one hold and the third ended in separated.
The two points of the confrontation were scored by CL Chacaica. Mai Acosta gave Miriam Meneses two in a row and the confrontation between the local Ana Alemán and the visitor Omaira Miranda was spectacular. The first hold between the two ended in separated and in the second, Omaira Miranda brought down the CL Reducto fighter, putting the final 9-12 on the scoreboard.
Anita Alemán (CL Reducto) and Selene Cabrera (CL Chacaica) were the top toblers of the CL Reducto presentation fight. A beautiful fight offered by the two teams, which augurs a very even women's competition starting next March, the date on which the regional competition is scheduled to begin.
