The UD Lanzarote squad returned to training on Thursday afternoon, finalising the details before facing CD Tenerife "B"'s reserve team in the first official match of 2020 on Saturday midday. The big news of the session was the presence of right-back Laurent Lopes, a player who joins the Rojilla discipline for the second part of the season.
Laurent Sebastien Lopes de Matos, born on March 7, 1997 in French Guiana, is a 1.64 meter tall player who usually occupies the positions of full-back or winger on the right side of the field. He is a footballer who has great speed, is vertical, has a good one-on-one and a great ball strike. He stands out for being disciplined on the field, being intense in his actions and very hardworking.
He decided to start his football career in France, currently has a French passport, signing in the lower categories of Girondins Bordeaux, playing in the under 15 and under 17 teams, before joining FC Bassin D´Artachan on loan. He landed in Spain in the 2017/2018 season to play for CD San Roque de Lepe.
Last season he started in the ranks of Ciudad de Lucena, signing in the winter market for Ecija Balompié. He played 17 official matches with the Andalusian team and scored 5 goals. He started this season in the ranks of CD Gerena, an Andalusian team that plays in Group X of the Third Division.
Laurent Lopes is an international for French Guiana, debuting with the national team of his country in a match played on November 20, 2018 and playing 45 minutes of the match against Guyana in the qualifying phase of the CONCAFAF Nations League. He has been called up three times with French Guiana.
The new UD Lanzarote footballer arrived on the island this Thursday and joined the first team's training in the afternoon, placing himself under the orders of Jero Santana.
