COMMENTARY. Unión Deportiva Lanzarote brought back a point from their visit to CD Leganés and so far remains unbeaten in the 2008-2009 season. The Rojillos were not comfortable on the pitch during the first half and their game improved a lot in the second half. The worst part of the match was the expulsion of Jonathan Torres in the extension minutes of the second half.
UD Lanzarote coach, Luis Rueda, made no changes to the line-up and relied on the same eleven players who started in the match against Villa de Santa Brígida. The initial dominance of the match was for CD Leganés, a team that locked the Rojillos in their own half.
UD Lanzarote was not comfortable on the pitch and despite the dominance of CD Leganés, the attacking actions were not very dangerous on Marino's goal. One of the few arrivals of UD Lanzarote occurred in the 12th minute, when Jonathan Torres left a short ball for Vladimir and the shot from the edge of the area was lost over the crossbar of the goal defended by Raúl Moreno.
The dominance of CD Leganés was accentuated in the final minutes of the first period and the pepineros had two unbeatable chances. The first in the 37th minute, with a ball that Gustavo Miguel put in for Nazho Aznar and the crossed shot went just wide. And minutes later, a cross from Javi Vicente was finished by Nacho Aznar, crashing the shot into the post of the goal defended by Marino. With the score tied at zero, the first half came to an end.
The game of UD Lanzarote improved in the second half and dared to approach the goal defended by Raúl Moreno with danger. A few minutes after the restart, Luis Rueda decided to bring Ciani and Niche into the game in place of Yeray Hernández and [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Martín.
As the minutes went by, UD Lanzarote became more ambitious and was not satisfied with sharing the points. In the 74th minute, Niche fought for a ball in the presence of a Leganés defender, sent a cross from the back line and Jonathan Torres' shot hit the body of a defender and went out for a corner. Minutes later, a cross from Rubén Rodríguez was headed by Jonathan Torres into the hands of Raúl Moreno.
In extra time, UD Lanzarote suffered the expulsion of Jonathan Torres. The referee of the match, at the request of one of his assistants, showed the Lanzarote striker a straight red card.
There was practically no time for more and UD Lanzarote added a valuable draw in their first away game of the season. The Rojillos are placed with four points in the standings, so far they have not conceded any goals against and Atlético de Madrid "B" will be their next rival.
