UD Lanzarote broke the streak of three consecutive defeats and on Sunday's matchday, they earned a point against Unión Viera. It was a match where either team could have taken the victory, although it was in the final stretch where the locals had the best dangerous chances. A point that leaves UD Lanzarote in the middle of the table and Unión Viera without the possibility of moving away from the bottom of the standings. Peraza put Unión Viera ahead on the scoreboard and Rosmen would equalize minutes later.
The match would begin with Unión Viera dominating, a team that took control of the game in midfield. UD Lanzarote was slow in building up, having problems making good ball circulation. The first dangerous action was for the visitors, with a counterattack in which Elvis entered down the left wing, passed to Borja Herrera, and his shot went over the crossbar.
It was Unión Viera who took the lead in the 16th minute of the first half. Peraza controlled a ball inside the area, turned, and with a crossed shot beat goalkeeper Aridani. Minutes later, Samuel could have increased the lead when his shot from inside the area did not find the three posts of the goal defended by Aridani.
The joy for the visitors barely lasted seven minutes, the time it would take UD Lanzarote to level the score. A free kick headed by Fran Gil touched the hand of a defender, and the referee, at the request of his assistant, signaled a penalty. Rosmen took the penalty, goalkeeper Li guessed the trajectory of the ball, and the rebound fell to Rosmen again to send it into the back of the net.
Unión Viera could have taken the lead on the scoreboard in another penalty action. Omar launched a free kick from the edge of the area, the ball touched the wall, and the referee signaled a penalty for the ball touching Jotha's hand. The local players protested, thinking that the action occurred outside the area. Omar himself took the penalty, Aridani guessed the trajectory of the shot, and in two stages, he secured the ball.
There were minutes of great intensity on the field, although as the minutes passed, the game calmed down. Before the break, a volley from Echedey from inside the area was saved by Li with a good intervention. With the score at 1-1, the first half of the match would come to an end.
The second half was much more even. The greatest danger from Unión Viera came from Samuel's incursions down the right wing. A cross from Samuel in the 51st minute was headed by Claudio, and the ball went wide of the three posts. For its part, UD Lanzarote played a more direct game, always rushing. A few minutes after the restart of the second half, Adolfo Pérez brought on Yaco and Raúl, with the intention of reinforcing the midfield and having a greater presence in the attacking area.
In the final stretch of the match, UD Lanzarote had two good chances to leave the three points at home. In the 85th minute, Rosmen stood inside the area, and in the one-on-one, Li saved the striker's shot. And in injury time, a header from Yaco from the small area went over the top of the goal. There was no time for more, and with the score tied at one goal, the match came to an end.
The score would not move again, and with the score at 1-1, the match would come to an end. UD Lanzarote breaks a streak of three consecutive defeats and adds a point to place themselves in the middle of the table. UD Lanzarote's next match will be against UD Vecindario, on Sunday starting at 12:00 noon at the Municipal de Santa Lucía.
