UD Lanzarote will face Unión Deportiva Almansa in the second round of the promotion phase to the Second Division "B". The red and whites have learned this afternoon the rival they have been drawn against, after the draw held in the halls of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The first match will be played this Sunday in Albacete and the return leg will be at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.
UD Almansa finished the regular season as fourth classified in the group of Castilla La Mancha of the Third Division. The Albacete team had to wait until the last match of the regular season to secure their presence in the promotion phase to the Second Division "B".
Almansa reaches the second round of the promotion phase after leaving Real Murcia "B" behind. In the first leg, Almansa drew 1-1 at their stadium and in the second leg, the Albacete team won 0-1 against the Murcians.
In the ranks of Almansa, the presence of striker Ginés Meca stands out, brother of the striker who played for UD Lanzarote several seasons ago. Meca is the team's top scorer with 19 goals scored in the regular phase of the season.
UD Almansa played in the 2004-2005 season in the Second Division, this being the only season in which the Albacete team was in the bronze division of Spanish football. A club that was founded in 1992. They play their home matches at the Municipal Sports Center with a capacity of 5,500 spectators.
