Trophy presentation to CB Zonzamas and CB San José Obrero for their promotion to the Guerreras League

The Royal Spanish Handball Federation awarded them the champion and runner-up prize, respectively, at the Cabildo of Lanzarote

The Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted, on the morning of this Wednesday, the awarding of trophies to CB Zonzamas and CB San José Obrero as champion and runner-up respectively of the Division de Honor Oro.

The event was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort; the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón; the vice president of the Royal Spanish Handball Federation, Blas Parrilla; the Councilor for Sports of San Bartolomé, Alexis Hernández; and both Lanzarote teams.

The president highlighted the historic fact of this double promotion to the highest category of national handball. “Lanzarote is undoubtedly an island that breathes handball in every corner, and these two promotions demonstrate the very high level that we are capable of giving on the 40x20,” said Betancort, who congratulated the players “for the excellent work done throughout the season.”

The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, conveyed his most sincere congratulations to both teams “for the incredible feat achieved.” “From the Island Sports Service we were aware of the importance of betting on handball and here we have the result, two teams from our island that will compete next year in the highest category of national handball,” said the minister.

Together with the vice president of the RFEBM, the councilor presented the champion medals to the players and coaching staff of CB Zonzamas, as well as runner-up medals to the members of CB San José Obrero. In addition, they were presented with the champion and runner-up trophy respectively.

Both teams will finish this historic season this weekend, with Zonzamas facing CB Puerto del Carmen - the third conejero representative in the category that achieved permanence in the category -; and CB San José Obrero who will travel to face Ainaitasuna.
