The young Lanzarote native Yerove Rodríguez achieves the Spanish record for 10 kilometers in the sub-20 category

Yaiza congratulates the southern athlete who also surpassed the best Spanish record in his first half marathon last October

Yerove Rodríguez Machín already advanced it in December when he participated in the Playa Blanca Solidarity Race, that his immediate challenge was to beat the best Spanish record of all time in 10 kilometers for a sub-20 athlete, and he achieved it in Valencia on January 12 with a time of 29:30 minutes, “a new and great joy for Yerove and also for Yaiza, which puts the name of the municipality, Lanzarote and the Canary Islands at the top of the national sports scene”, declares the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, who on behalf of the City Council publicly congratulates the 18-year-old resident of Playa Blanca.

The Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, recalls that not long ago, last October, “Yerove also achieved the best sub-20 record in Spain in his first half marathon, so his career is impressive”. Then, and also in Valencia, now a place of great successes, Yerove finished the half marathon in 1:06:14 hours.

Yerove Rodríguez Machín trains at the High Performance Sports Center of Murcia, which houses athletes who prepare with the highest quality standards, an activity that he combines with his studies in physical activity and sports sciences.
