The Waza-ari Judo Club brings home four medals from Catalonia

The Waza-ari Judo Club continues to occupy the top positions in the National Children's Judo Ranking, after the good results obtained in a new day of the Spanish Cup. The judokas from Lanzarote conquered four medals in the competition held in Tortosa (Tarragona). One silver medal and three bronze medals were conquered by the Lanzarote judokas.

The judokas of the Waza-ari Judo Club "Kimik-Laboratorios Bilper" traveled to Tortosa (Tarragona), a town where a new day of the Spanish Judo Cup was held. The child judokas arrived at the competition occupying the top positions in the national ranking and with the intention of defending these privileged positions that they had earned in the rest of the events held to date.

The best result was achieved by Rubén de la Caridad Rodríguez, a judoka who won the silver medal in the category of less than 66 kilos. Rubén obtained the pass to the grand final after performing a "yuko" against Nicolás Martínez, representative of Castilla La Mancha. A rival who had always been difficult for the Lanzarote judoka and who on this occasion was able to take sporting revenge for what had happened in other clashes.

María Julissa Hernández starred in the great feat and in the category of less than 40 kilos she won the bronze medal. María Julissa was injured in the semi-final round, suffering a clavicle fracture that prevented her from competing in the grand final. In the final for the bronze she performed an impressive ippon. The bronze medal places María Julissa Hernández as third in the national children's ranking.

Idafe Nelly achieved her second consecutive bronze medal in the category of less than 46 kilos. Idafe remains in third place in the national children's ranking. And Diana Granado, in the category of less than 52 kilos, has premiered her record, conquering the bronze medal in Tarragona.

The director of the Waza-ari Judo Club "Kimik-Laboratorios Bilper", Alejandro Collado, is satisfied with the work that the members of his club are doing and attributes the success "to each and every one of the boys, to the serious commitment acquired since the beginning of the current season". Collado considers that work is the basis of success and encouraged his judokas to continue working in the same line "because we still have room for improvement".
