The Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted the official reception for the Club Tanaga de Taekwon-do ITFU, following their brilliant performance at the 5th Interinsular Open Tournament F.I.T.E. Canarias 2026, recently held in Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma).
The expedition from Lanzarote returned to the island with an impressive haul of 39 medals and the trophy that accredits them as the second-best club in the tournament.
In a competition that brought together more than 150 athletes from all over the Canary Islands, the Tanaga Club demonstrated notable technical superiority by harvesting 13 gold medals, 14 silver, and 12 bronze. This result consolidates the club as an emerging benchmark in martial arts in Lanzarote, achieving these milestones in record time since its founding.
“It is a source of pride to see how Lanzarote continues to diversify its sporting successes. The Tanaga Club is the perfect example that commitment and discipline in martial arts yield immediate results. Achieving 39 medals in an inter-island event is not a matter of chance, but the result of daily work of excellence that we want to recognize today from the highest island institution,” said the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón.
