All those who have participated in the presentation to the media have highlighted the importance of Lanzarote being chosen to host the Spanish Supermotard Championship for the first time in history. As Vicente González explained, Canarian motorcycling is going through a good moment and an example of this is the celebration of the scoring event for the Championship at the state level.
The Supermotard modality requires a space that is not asphalt and the one in Tías is ideal for this test, "in Lanzarote we have a circuit with conditions superior to those required by a Spanish championship, they are of international level", said José Santana, who has recognized that the Spanish Motorcycling Federation "will be looking closely to see if we know how to organize a Spanish championship, with the difficulties of transporting all the materials here".
A total of 45 drivers will meet, "the best in the national field", pointed out the president of the Canarian Motorcycling Federation, among whom is the champion of the Canary Islands, Pedro Tavío, and the current Spanish champion Néstor Jorge, although the latter will not compete as he is preparing for the World Championship.
On Saturday, first thing in the morning, the Technical-Administrative verifications will be carried out, starting the training at 10:45 a.m., and from 1:00 p.m. a scoring event for the Canary Islands Championship will take place, with the big day being Sunday, when engines will start at 10:00 a.m., to hold two heats for each of the categories.
