The second edition of the Lanzarote International Cup was dressed up on Friday at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation, located in the “City of Football” of Las Rozas, Madrid, to give the starting signal for this summer tournament.
The spectacular presentation was attended by the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, as well as an extensive Canary Islands delegation. Pedro Cabrera, CEO of the Lanzarote International Cup, as well as part of the organization's work team, traveled to Madrid. The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, the vice-counselor of
Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Sabroso, and the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, also traveled to Las Rozas.
The former soccer players Guayre and Jontahan Sesma, who is repeating this time as ambassador of the LIC brand, were present as sponsors of this second edition.
The island municipalities also had representation from the different sports areas; in the case of Arrecife, in addition to the councilor, Eli Merino, the capital's mayor, Yonathan de León, attended since this year, Arrecife will be located as the epicenter of this sporting event.
Louzán highlighted the potential of this second edition, which will feature, in basic categories, the most outstanding clubs in the world and assured that “football is what unites us”. He wished “good luck” to the Lanzarote organization and assured that if his agenda allows it, he will go to the island to enjoy this II Lanzarote International Cup.
In an act that lasted approximately one hour, the value of everything that this sporting event brings, which transcends the ball to become a tourist, political and economic mechanism, was highlighted; without leaving aside the competition, training and enjoyment of the little ones.
Again in this edition that will be held from June 18 to 22, there will be venues in all the fields of the different municipalities of the island and the presence of great European teams such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF or Sporting de Lisboa has already been confirmed.
To gain even more weight, a new category will be added since the Infants will also be able to compete this year in the Lanzarote International Cup. Little time and a lot of desire for the ball to start rolling in Lanzarote, which, as Pedro Cabrera commented, “the entire island will become the best field in the world.”
