The Marlins after winning the II Spanish Sea Kayak Cup

Last weekend, the waters of the Ría de O Grove in Galicia hosted the II Spanish Kayak Sea Cup, an event that brought together almost 50 clubs and more than 550 paddlers from all over Spain. Among them, the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club stood out remarkably, sending a team made up of 45 athletes and 4 coaches, being the club with the largest representation in the competition. The team has managed to win three national titles and 26 medals

The Cup took place over two days: one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Saturday was characterized by cold and rainy weather, although the athletes from Lanzarote felt comfortable in the water thanks to a small wave generated by the south wind. This condition was favorable for the Marlines, accustomed to training in the sea of Arrecife, known for its excellent conditions for surfskiing. The result was spectacular, with the Marlines obtaining 21 of the 26 total medals won during the weekend.

On Sunday, despite a sunnier climate, the conditions of the Ria de O Grove changed drastically, presenting a large sheet of water without waves or wind, less favorable for the paddlers of Lanzarote. However, the Marlines faced the day with determination and managed to add another 5 medals, thus closing a weekend of great results. The club was proclaimed Champion of the II Spanish Kayak Sea Cup for Young Promises, Runner-up of the II Spanish Kayak Sea Cup Absolute and Third in the II Spanish Kayak Sea Cup Master. These achievements were accompanied by a total of 26 medals: 7 golds, 9 silvers and 10 bronzes.
