The 'Lanzarote Wine Run', Wine Race, returns to the island on June 16, 2024. A test that the Cabildo of Lanzarote has decided to recover, being one of the events that has had greater acceptance and popularity of those held on the island and whose last celebration was in 2019.
Organized jointly with the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote and the City Council of Yaiza, with the collaboration of Club La Santa, it will consist of a 12-kilometer walk, a short race with the same distance and a long race of 23 kilometers. It has a quota of 2,000 participants and registrations can be made now through the link on the race website.
The Minister of Environment, Samuel Martín, encourages the population to participate in this twelfth edition of 'Lanzarote Wine Run', which "beyond a sporting event, is an event of great environmental value that helps raise awareness about the wonder of the landscape we have, unique in the world, and the importance of preserving it," he stresses.
In this sense, Martín points out that the race "is an opportunity to recognize and value in its proper measure, both by residents and by the many people who will come from outside attracted by its celebration, the commendable work and effort historically made by people dedicated to Lanzarote viticulture, the main architects of the fact that we can enjoy this spectacular landscape."
The 'Lanzarote Wine Run' will once again have a "marked solidarity character" by allocating part of the proceeds obtained to the 'Save La Geria' project. Through this initiative, the Cabildo promotes the economic, cultural, environmental and tourist sustainability of the landscape of La Geria, through the enhancement of the cultivation of the vineyard, the promotion of wine tourism and the recovery of traditional paths and degraded spaces, among other actions.
