The 'IV Rallysprint de Yaiza' kicks off this Friday night with 38 participants

The event kicks off at 9:30 p.m. with the first of six passes on the route between Las Casitas de Femés-Las Breñas, continuing with the second night section that will resume on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. with TCs 3 to 6.

Presentation of the 'IV Rallysprint de Yaiza'

The IV Rallysprint de Yaiza has kicked off this Monday with the official presentation of the event at the Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas. As in previous editions, the race is held in two parts, the first at night on Friday night and will continue on Saturday morning with the rest of the competition. In total, six passes (three in each direction) to the timed section that takes place on the Femés road.

The Yaiza City Council and the Cabildo de Lanzarote are giving their full support for another year to this rallysprint, which is already becoming established in Lanzarote and as one of the most important events of the year in the municipality, under the organization of CD. Evesport and scoring for both the Las Palmas Championship of the modality and the Insular of Lanzarote.

José Víctor Rodríguez, as president of the organizing committee, began the presentation by thanking "the help of all the institutions, collaborating companies, federations and CD. Manguia, in addition to the emergency and security services, local police and civil protection." He recalled that Playa Blanca and Uga will be the venues for the main activities, highlighting the coexistence in the assistance area during Friday night, where once again a popular paella will be offered made by the renowned Chiringuito de Luis.

After the verifications on Friday afternoon in Playa Blanca (Plaza del Carmen), the rallysprint starts at 9:30 p.m. with the first of the six passes (three in each direction) of the route between Las Casitas de Femés-Las Breñas, continuing with the second night section. It resumes on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. with TCs 3 to 6, so the total route is 51.81 km.

The intermediate work parks are always in the parking lot of the town of Uga, the assistance area where the participating vehicles will also "sleep" on Friday night after tasting the paella from Chiringuito de Luis, intended for all people related to the race. The event will end with the awards ceremony in Playa Blanca, Plaza de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, at around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last year the Yaiza event was won by the team of Toñín Suárez-Jorge Cedrés with a Porsche 911 GT3, who this year will be one of the favorite teams, on this occasion with Kimberley González as co-driver. Yeray Lemes will also be there with a similar car, a clear contender for victory in Yaiza after giving up the Rally Isla de Tenerife of the CCRA, which is also being held this coming Saturday, again with Aitor Cambeiro in the right seat of the Porsche.

From Tenerife comes the second classified in the regional championship, Domingo Hernández- with a Honda Civic Type-R and Santiago González as co-driver. The M3 of Alvaro Caballero or Alfredo Guerra with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X will also be there. José Yoday Betancort is registered with a Peugeot 208 Rally4, as is David Pérez. In total there are 38 teams on the list that will be published this Wednesday, two more than in the last edition.

The Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Angel Lago, spoke at the presentation, highlighting the rallysprint "as one of the key events in his municipality, thanks to the fact that each edition grows in popularity, thanking his mayor for the margin he always leaves him to decide on sports events."

The Councilor for Sports Juan Monzón also attended the event on behalf of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, who emphasized "the guarantee of success when Evesport is at the forefront of the organization and the consolidation of this rallysprint in its fourth edition." He also recalled the importance of working together with the institutions to continue to reconcile this sport with an island that is a Biosphere Reserve, which is being demonstrated thanks to the respect for the natural environment and a meticulous management of each motor sport event.

Before the official photo next to the poster of this edition and with one of the participating competition cars, the presentation was closed by the mayor Oscar Noda, pointing out "the importance of the previous work and the safety of the race, which each year has more participants from both Lanzarote and other islands2. He also asked "for patience from the residents for the traffic cuts on the roads in the area and that they were already being informed promptly of the closing and opening times to traffic." Finally, he thanked "the collaboration of all the sponsors and the organization, trusting that this fourth edition will be another success."

Prior to the presentation, the organization and all the representatives of the different organizations, emergency teams, paramedics, police, etc., met to coordinate the safety of the race.
