The Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, skippered by José Juan Calero, has finished the Cagliari RC 44 Cup in third position, only behind the almighty BMW Oracle of Larry Ellison and the Team Aqua of Chris Bake, who was the great dominator in the inaugural regatta of the 2009 circuit held in Puerto Calero.

The BMW-Oracle of Larry Ellison has topped the overall standings, tied at nine points with the Team Aqua of Chris Bake, while the Islas Canarias Puerto Calero was third, five points behind the first two.
The Islas Canarias Puerto Calero arrived to the last day of the Cagliari
RC 44 Cup in third position and ahead of them they only had the BMW-Oracle of Larry Ellison and the Team Aqua of Chris Bake, both with nine
points. The Canarian boat was third with fifteen and fourth, one point behind,
was the Ceeref of Igor Lah. But the wind was missing in this last event, and after an
attempt by the Regatta Committee to give a start, it was finally
had to be aborted and after the conditions did not improve, the day was
finished and consequently the championship.
In this way, the boat of the Club de Mar de Puerto Calero scored the
first podium in its history after participating for the third time in a regatta of
the RC class, the previous two had been held precisely in
Lanzarote.
The owner of the Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, José Antonio Calero, who has sailed on the boat in the last two days, was very happy with this result: "I am very satisfied with the work of the entire team. This podium demonstrates the quality of our crew". Regarding the fact that they are all Canarian sailors, he affirms that "we will continue with our philosophy of continuing to form a team with people from home so that it is a great family". The skipper of the Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, José Juan Calero, commented that "with the team we have, being able to achieve results like this is easier".
The next regatta in which the RC 44 Islas Canarias Puerto
Calero will participate will be the RC 44 Austria Cup, which will be held from May 25 to 31 in
waters of Lake Traunsee.
