This weekend officially kicks off the rally season on the island of Lanzarote. On Friday night and Saturday, the third edition of the Rallye La Candelaria ? Tías will be held, a scoring event for the Lanzarote Island Rally Championship. The start of the season will be marked by the absence of several important drivers and the new vehicles that some of the drivers will use.
Jesús Machín, one of the candidates for the final victory every time he participates, will not be starting this time. His Skoda Octavia WRC is not fixed after the accident he suffered in a Gran Canaria event and the car he used in the Rallye Isla de Lanzarote could not be repaired after the problems he suffered in the gearbox. Another notable absence will be that of Rubén Curbelo, the last winner of the Rallye Isla de Lanzarote and one of the great promises of motorsport in Lanzarote.
In total, 17 teams will participate in the III Rallye La Candelaria ? Tías. Alexis Romero together with Martín Rodríguez with the Skoda Octavia Kit Car, starts with number one and his maximum opponent will be Yeray Lemes. The world championship driver will participate together with Marcos González and will debut a BMW 325i.
Camilo González (Honda Civic Type R), Juan Cañada García (Peugeot 306 Kit Car) and Juan Cañada García (BMW 325i), complete the list of the first five drivers. Four will be the teams that compete in group N, as is the case of Camilo González (Honda Civic Type-R), Jesús María Lemes (Renault Clio Williams), Sergio Baes Dos Santos (Citroen Saxo 1.6) and Marcos González (Renault Clio Sport).
The III Rallye La Candelaria ? Tías will consist of four timed sections that the teams must complete twice. These are the sections of Tías ? Masdache (4.5 km), El Mentidero (5.3 km), Hoya Limpia (3.2 km) and Masdache ? Tías (4.5 km). In total there will be 107.2 kilometers, of which 35 will be timed and 72.2 kilometers of link.
One of the novelties of the third edition of the Rallye La Candelaria ? Tías is the dispute of two sections on Friday night. Specifically, the drivers will have to make two passes to the section of Tías ? Masdache. The first pass is scheduled for 00:23 hours and the second at 01:16 hours. After the dispute of these two sections, the cars will remain in the closed park and the rally will resume on Saturday from 12:23 hours with the section of El Mentidero. A rally that is scheduled to conclude at 17:40 hours on Saturday.
