They had been training hard for many months and were finally able to stage what they had rehearsed every afternoon in each of the island's clubs. The gymnasts of Lanzarote experienced their big day on Tuesday and more than 700 young people participated in the XVII Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival. More than 3,000 people packed the stands of the Argana Sports Palace. A solidarity event that served to collect toys for the neediest children.
The Christmas Gymnastics Festival has been held uninterruptedly for 17 years and is a place where the gymnasts of the island of Lanzarote meet. An event that complements the Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival "Lolina Curbelo", which takes place every year in April.
This time there were more than 700 gymnasts who participated in the Christmas Gymnastics Festival and represented 8 gymnastics clubs, associations or educational centers on the island. The participating entities were; Tenesa Sol Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Arenas Internacional School, Ayatima Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, CEIP Capellania del Yágalo, IES Manríque, Santa María de los Volcanes de Nazaret Sports Club, and Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Center.
Before the start of the show, Natalia Cabrera Cabrera received the award for being the author of the poster announcing the XVII Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival. This young 9-year-old gymnast from the Tenesa Sol Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, was the winner of the contest convened by the Island Sports Service to create the image of the poster for the 2011 edition.
The members of the different clubs paraded through the parquet floor of the Argana Sports Palace, delighting the numerous relatives who were in the stands. The gymnasts were in charge of putting the color of the night and staging everything learned in the previous months.
Solidarity Goal

The "Solidarity Goal" was installed at the doors of the Argana Sports Palace. Attendees were introducing inside the gifts that will serve so that this Christmas no child is left without their toy. The distribution of toys will be carried out thanks to the collaboration of the NGO Emerlan, and the Social Services departments of each of the seven municipalities on the island.
